Changes

I have been planning this for a long time! No seriously I think I have been playing with this idea for about a year now or longer, but now I finally did it.

I changed my blog name!

So from now on I'll go by the name Bookishly Me, which has a better ring to it than Kim's Bookish Place (don't you think) and I am real happy with it. It has been a long search and I googled my ass off.
And since I already was changing names I thought I might as well change my Twitter name with it. So from now on you can find me on twitter as @Kim_BookishlyMe

This is a debut novella and yes here and there you can tell, but I do think Alan Williams is on the right track here. The story starts of with a prologue which immidiately draws you in and from then on you will read this novella without putting it down.  This story is fast paced and the writing style makes it easy to read. 

Gods and Fathers by James LePore

However, his life shifts from troubled to imperiled when two cops – men he's known for a long time – come into his home and arrest his son as the prime suspect in the murder of the boy's girlfriend.
Suddenly, the enmity between Matt and his only child is no longer relevant. Matt must do everything he can to clear his son, who he fully believes is innocent. Doing so will require him to quit his job and make enemies of former friends – and it will throw him up against forces he barely knew existed and can only begin to comprehend how to battle.

This is the first book I read by James LePore, but it defenitely isn't the last book I will read by him. 

Gods and Fathers is a well written and developed story and with it's only 260 pages a fast read. Due to the different points of view you get a good look from different sides of the story, but it does not give anything away about the plot of this story. That is the strongest part of this book: not knowing what will come next. It also made me flip page after page just to see what would happen next.

You’re reading this on Friday the 13th, a day when superstition causes people to put off travel plans, skip attending events, and not start any new projects. If you’re one of them, you have a lot of company. Approximately 20 million Americans take this unlucky day seriously to some degree, from mild (not getting on an airplane with flight #1313) to staying home in bed under the covers all day. I’d like to stay in bed under the covers, but it won’t be because I’m worried about the day of the month. 

Voices of the Dead by Peter Leonard

The year is 1971. The place is Detroit. Harry Levin, a scrap metal dealer and Holocaust survivor, has just learned that his daughter was killed in a car accident. Traveling to Washington, DC to claim the body, he learns that the accident was caused by a German diplomat who was driving drunk. This is only the beginning of the horror for Harry, though, as he discovers that the diplomat will never face charges – he has already been released and granted immunity. Enraged and aggrieved, Harry discovers the identity of his daughter’s killer, follows him to Munich, and hunts him down. What Harry finds out about the diplomat and his plans will explode his life and the lives of everyone around him.

This was a story which was hard to put down and I read it in a day. Harry Levin wants to get justice for the dead of his daughter. But the drunk driver who killed her is a German Politician named Hess and is granted immunity. He follows Hess to Germany. This also brings back memories of the Holocaust which Harry barely survived. In the pursuit of his daughters killer he finds out something even more disturbing about Hess that will put his own life and that of the people around him in danger.
