Interview Kari Lee Townsend + Giveaway

Today I welcome back Kari Lee Townsend back on the blog. Trouble in the Tarot, the third book in her Fortune Teller Mystery series will be out tomorrow. I love this series and I am very pleased to have her back on the blog.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

*Tell us in one sentence why we should read the Fortune Teller Series.

If you like a touch of humor, romance, quirky characters, a mysterious immortal cat and light paranormal books, then the Fortune Teller Mysteries are sure to be your cup of tea :-)

*Why did you decide to write Paranormal Cozy Mysteries?

I love anything paranormal. It has always fascinated me. I once had my tea leaves read, as well as my palm and a past life reading. All were uncanny in their accuracy. I figured I would be researching the various fortune-telling tools anyways, so why not share what I learned with my readers. It's so much fun writing about something I'm passionate about.
*Where did the idea come from to have different deviations as a main topic in this series?

I wanted to be unique. I didn't want Sunny to be just another psychic. So I really thought having each book focus on a different fortune-telling tool would be really cool. Not to mention it takes a lot of work to research just one tool and come across as authentic.
*You write books in multiple genres. Do you find this difficult?

No. I actually find it keeps the whole writing process fresh and exciting for me. There's a lot of thought that goes into writing a mystery. Coming up with the victim and the killer, not to mention suspects and motives and red herrings. Weaving that throughout can be exhausting. I love switching gears and writing something completely different, where I still have to do research and come up with story threads and unexpected twists and turns, but they are different enough that it allows me to recharge my brain.

*Who are some of your favorite authors?

I love to read in many genres, so I end up having too many favorite authors to name. But I do especially love books with romance and humor in them. In fact, no matter what I write, you will always find some degree of romance and humor in my books.

*Any hobbies?

I love photography. If you see me at a conference, look out. You can bet I'll be saying cheese and snapping away :-) I also love wine tasting and traveling.

*Any pets?

I have 4 kids, but no pets. Love pets, but right now my house is crazy enough. Someday, though.

*Favorite food?

Hmmm, anything Mexican. I love Italian, too, but Mexican is probably my favorite.

*What are your guilty pleasures in life?

Reality TV...LOVE it, even though most of it is so bad :-) Chocolate, wine, bubble baths. And this doesn't inspire guilt, but it does give me pleasure...I love to do anything adventurous. Scuba diving, para-sailing, zip lining, etc. The more dangerous and exciting, the more I want to do it. It drives the hubby nuts.

*Anything you would like to add?

Don't forget to leave a comment for a chance to win a copy of Trouble in the Tarot. And stay tuned for more romances coming under my pen name Kari Lee Harmon.

For psychic Sunshine Meadows, sometimes fortunes can be deceiving . . .
Lately Sunny has been experiencing a period of big opportunity: her business in Divinity, New York, is thriving, and Detective Mitch Stone has finally agreed to take Sunny on a date. But thanks to her clairvoyant abilities, Sunny knows better than anyone that life deals out bad cards along with the good.
When Sunny agrees to read tarot cards at the annual Summer Solstice Carnival, she meets her Granny Gert‘s “arch nemesis” Fiona Atwater, and is overcome by a vision of Fiona in a violent argument. Sunny knows trouble is brewing when Granny and Fiona start having squabbles all over town. But the fighting comes to a head when a local baker gets run over by a big white Cadillac—and Granny and Fiona are found at the crime scene.
Sunny knows she should step aside and let Mitch handle the investigating, but she’s not about to ignore her visions and leave her granny’s life in fate’s hands . . .
